Ever do a bet for someone only to find out you got mixed up and wrote the wrong team down? Well that just happened me. And the bet (a double) came up! So I now have to fork out almost €500 and needless to say I'm a bit pee'd off.

Tell him to do his own bets in future.

Or just give stake back and say you didn't have time to get the bet on. ;)

If he's your friend he won't make you pay.

If he insists on paying I'd give it to him and tell him to sod off, accidents happen.

I'm going to pay up. It wasn't his fault and I agreed to it. It wasn't too far out of the way either.

If it was my friend I wouldn't expect them to pay, maybe the stake back and I'd learn my lesson for the next time.

    Give him stake back.

Buy him a Pint and a pack of crisps.

That should suffice for a friend.

No I'd have kept it so fair is fair! Although I wouldn't have done that bet myself.

This is why i refuse to do bets for people, have heard many horror stories.

He did 4 doubles. The one I made a mistake in was the only one that came up. To make matters worse the goal was conceded in the 90th minute.

How would he learn his lesson to do his own bets in future?

OP did you notice the mistake and let him know before the result was over?

To be honest if it was me I'd offer to pay up the money in full but would'nt be expecting a mate to take it.

If you give him back his stake for all the bets he made your mate isnt out of pocket.
I think thats the fairest way of sorting it out in my opinion.

Hes not able. Hes sick at the moment. When hes able he does his own.

I didn't even say it to him to be honest. My mistake so I'll deal with it.

If theres a lesson learned its be extra careful what I write out. It cost me over 300e again last year doing a bet. Different situation where PP knew I made an honest mistake but would only pay out half my original stake. I wanted the full stake and the winnings but was getting about a 1/4 of what was due so I turned down their offer.

So be careful what you write down. I saw the mistake when it was too late.

    Very decent of you so.
Hope you have a bit of luck yourself soon to ease the blow.

Very nice of you to pay out in full, I certainly know most of my mates wouldn't and tbh, I doubt I would either under normal circumstance.
