    Few questions..

Will places accept my laser card? And of equal importance, will atm's accept my card and give me cash? If yes, will it be euro or pounds?

    Cheers

I dont really know if the shops will accept a lazer card but I dont see why not.

Should be no problems with ATMs and you will get sterling.

Laser isnt accepted in most shops (barr quite a few in Newry for the cross border shoppers). You can use it in the ATM no problems just select the maestro option if prompted. You shouldnt get charged extra fees just the exchange rate at the moment you withdraw.

You will also get Sterling unless you go to a euro machine (usually AIB) and there are only a few of these available outside Newry.

    Have fun!

Most of the shops and restaurants in Derry and Belfast accept Laser. All of the main supermarkets Tesco, Sainsburys, Asda do as well. Its best to check first because some places accept laser and I carry a credit card just in case.

always good to have a choice of plastic wherever you go.

MIGHT be woth a call to your card provider if you are planning any big purchases.

I had diffs in france with one card because the provider's computer thought that the card had been cloned by a foreigner...... a phone call sorted it out so now I tell my card people before I go. cross border shouldn't be an issue.

oh yeah, don't forget your passport!

    :p

Ulster Bank in the Culmore Road, Derry, (beside Da Vinci's) have a dedicated Euro ATM.

I've pretty much always paid with Laser when shopping in Derry, never encountered a shop that wouldn't accept it. You can't get cashback though.
