Touring Holiday

    Folks,

Heading away to France on a holiday shortly, everything I shall require for the week will be on the bike with me (basically bringing one small bag with the bare essentials)
I'm travelling extremely light in order to power up and over the Col du Tourmalet.

Just wondering if any of you out there have ever brought your bike on the plane without the use of a sturdy bike bag/box. Obviously I cant bring a bike bag/box as I do not have the same base to stay each night, (so I'm not carrying the bag/box round with me for the week) and I am also flying home from a different airport (so it can't be stored at the airport).

I am aware that the bike has to be wrapped up etc for flying. My bike will be well wrapped going to France and than once we land just remove the wrapping, assemble the bike and cycling begins. However my predicament is flying home.
We are basically chancing our arm and that on the morning of the flight we'll be able to buy the materials (e.g. from a hardware store) to wrap up the bikes again for the return flight.

    Any advice???

    Don't rap it.
Most flights will take 6 bikes.

    Or try this.

Yes velo that's what I had in mind. Bikes are booked on Aer Lingus flight going out so no issues but coming home with Ryanair. Could be troublesome.

No chance you could disassemble it and fashion it into an overcoat?

No room in the bag to bring an overcoat
