Unsure if I will still qualify for student grant....

    Folks,
I completed a Level 8 Hons Degree few years back. At the time I was living with my mother who is on JSA and I had no income, so there were no issues.

I am now 26 and the only hope I can see of employment is to complete a Level 9 Masters at UCD. (I live in the West)

I am currently living with my father, who has a managable income, but no way could he pay (nor would I ask) for my tuition/accom etc.

    My basic question is:
At 26, living at home with just my father (hence 1 income in the family), is his salary taken into consideration when applying for the student grant?

I have been forced to go on JSA (but only since beginning of 2012), my income in 2011 was pittance.

Again, just to re-iterate, my question is: At my age, will my fathers 2011 income still be taken into consideration since I live with him?

    Thanks folks

Unless you are paying him rent and can prove that, then I'm afraid that he will be means tested. I'm in a similar situation except I am 29yrs old, my folks will be means tested even though I don't live with them!

Wait for further confirmation but I think if you live with your dad and don't pay him rent, then you are "dependent" on him...:(

It doesn't matter about whether you pay rent at all

If you live with a parent you cannot be classed as an independent mature student

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

    Yes

The grant would be assessed on your fathers income
