Asking someone out on Facebook?

    Hi Guys,

Just wondering what your opinions are on asking someone out on facebook?

Basically there's this guy that I've really fancied for ages but I only get to see him once every couple of weeks. He comes by my place of work every couple of weeks (he's a delivery/service guy).

We haven't spent that much time talking really, just general chit chat but I'm really attracted to him. I have no idea if he's single, straight, married, into me too or whatever!!

I added him on fb a few weeks ago and going by his page he would appear to be single although fb is a very bad indicator of anything real I guess!

I was thinking of sending him a fb message asking if he'd like to go for a drink sometime. I know it's not the best approach to take but seeing as I don't have his number or anything this is my only means of asking him! (Can't ask him while at work as it's inappropriate).

Is this really lame? See, if I liked someone I wouldn't care how they asked me out...but that's only if I really like them and I have no idea if he likes me!!

Sorry for rambling on (I'm 27 btw and he looks about 34)

    Thanks:)

Maybe just start a general chit-chat conversation with him on Facebook first? Ask him has he any plans for the weekend, that sort of thing? (This might help you suss out the girlfriend situation. ;) )

Otherwise, I don't see anything wrong with just asking him out, as you've suggested, seeing as you have no other way of contacting him. He's bound to be flattered and respect you for having the guts to do it, anyways!

I guess, the only danger is that, if he says no for whatever reason things could be awkward next time you see him in work? Which is why I'd probably be inclined to try chatting for a bit before asking him out!

Try and build a rapport with the guy on FB and see if you can get a read off him. Ask the questions that will enable you to suss his situation out. Nothing wrong whatsoever in asking him out on FB, it's a valid communication tool just like any other.

Thanks for the replies. I don't ever use fb chat though and I'm not sure if he does either.
Next time I see him though I'm gonna make an effort to flirt with him a little or at least build some kind of rapport. I think then i'll just bite the bullet and ask him. Life is too short etc etc:)
