Claiming my Wifes Personal Tax Credit

    Hi,
Unfortunately my wife was just made redundant. She is just about to sign up for unemployment benefit for a year.
    My question is:
Each of our tax credits are made up of two parts, a PAYE tax credit and a Personal tax credit.
As she is now unemployed and about to claim unemployment benefit, she now loses her PAYE Tax credit of roughly €1650. Can I immediately start claiming from her ‘Personal Tax credit’ roughly €1650.
This would leave me with my personal and PAYE credit + her personal credit, leaving me with a combined tax credit of €4950 annually roughly.
Also, is there anything else I could claim, such as carers allowance etc. as we have two kids?
    Thanks for the help.
