Strange vibration through clutch pedal?

Noticed this one the motorway yesterday. When the clutch is depressed to the floor at high speed I can feel through the pedal a high frequency vibration (like a steering wheel with unbalanced wheels). If I hold the pedal to the floor after about 3 seconds the vibration tapers off to normal. Not noticeable when changing gears at slower speeds.

Car is Focus 2008 TDCi with 50,000 miles.

    Any ideas?

    Cheers.

Sounds like Dual Mass Flywheel (DMF) going?
Had similar symptoms on my Renault Laguna before it went.

Balance and track your tyres first, u might be surpised the effect at highspeeds on motorway.

You wouldn't feel the clutch vibrating if the tires were not balanced. It would be steering wheel that would vibrate...

I would love to know what you were depressing the cluth for at high speed???. Surley you did not need to change gear on the motorway.

Anyway other than that a failing DMF will normally make noise when the car is idling and goes away when you press the clutch.

I would guess at the DMF. Same symptoms in my Mondeo TDCI. Push the clutch in and out at idle and see if you can feel a rattle at all.

50,000 miles is a bit early for it to go but not unheard of.

Could be anything in the Transmission, you need someone to get it up on a lift to have a look.

Had a similar issue with my V50, pretty much the same car, turned out to be a worn mount.
