I can see there are two jobs going with VMWare in Cork, and one going with Lucini&Lucini.

In general though, Linux is Linux, I don't think the distro is too important. That has been my experience anyway.

From my experience most commercial stuff is Red Had based (at least in telecoms) but if you have strong debian based experience a lot of companies won't care as it's normally easy enough to transfer the bulk of your knowledge across distros

Not having cloud experience but knowing UNIX/Linux very well, are there jobs not needing cloud experience

Eg. knowing how to install, configure devices, setup printing, setup apache server, setup sshd, ftpd, etc
knowing how to troubleshoot basic connectivity such as ifconfig, ping, nslookup etc
knowing udp/tcp ports, and knowing basic iptables and NAT
also bash/ksh sed/awk and creating shell programs to automate tasks
Are these skills sufficient to get a basic sysadmin or helpdesk job?

Of course, not everyone has swallowed the cloud pill...
