Batch priming not mixing completely

I dissolved 170g of cane sugar in about a half litre of water in a bowl and put it in the bottling bucket then siphoned the beer on top of it.
When emptying the bucket after bottling I tasted the last bit as i was pouring it down the sink and it was really sweet, as were the last couple of bottles. I did tilt the bucket to get that last litre out of it.
Has anyone else experienced this? I've done a few batches this way with no bombs but it has got me a bit worried...should I be stiring it? I make sure to position the siphon so I get a swirling motion as it fills.
As I'm writing this I'm thinking I may have added the sugar a few minutes before I started the siphon and the bucket was on the tiles so it may have cooled and caused te sugar to settle on the bottom and not mix...
As I've written the post I might aswell leave it as a warning to others!

You would think it would be well dissolved in about 500 ml of water. Did you dissolve the sugar well in the boling water. I dissolve mine in the microwave for a few minutes, stirring midway as some sugar settles at bottom of the bowl.

I used a glass bowl and the water was straight from the kettle...only caught it because there was an empty glass in the sink when I dumped the end of the bucket. Will be tasting the start middle and end on the next batch as this has me puzzled...
I really hope the whole batch isn't flat as it was tasting amazing!

In order to ensure even priming, you will need to add your dissolved sugar on top of the beer, gently pouring it in spiral patterns evenly over the surface.

You can always ensure even priming by agitation, but you are trying to reduce oxygen at this stage.

You are unlikely to get bottle bombs, but you can have a widely differing head quality.

Yeah I'll be doing that with the next batch. I'm sure I read somewhere to do it as I did though...

I've always put the priming sugar in first and racked the beer on top of it and never had a problem.
