    Hey guys,

A while back, I asked here if anyone knew of any groups with people with intellectual disabilities who were LGBT, and no-one had any links in Ireland they could pass on. I just wanted to let people know, if anyone is interested, that I, along with some other people, have started a group! We're part of the Connect People Network, which is a general group supporting the right to sexuality education and a sexual life for adults with ID, and we're called Connecting Rainbows!

It's all very exciting and scary and new, and we're the first in Ireland. I'm just filling in an application to march in this years Pride, which will be my first time marching, and the first time in any kind of gay space for a lot of the members of the group- to come out as gay with an intellectual disability is incredibly difficult, as so many people believe you can't be gay if you have an intellectual disability!

Anyway, I just wanted to let people know that we exist, especially as a few people int hat thread expressed an interest in getting involved :) And if anyone who has set up any kind of LGBT group has any tips, pleeeeeeeeeeease let me know!!!

Congrats on the good work Baby. I've never set up a group, but I'd say hit up the likes of LGBT Diversity for funding assistance and awareness along with the other groups in the Country. Another thought would be to forward an article or drop a note to GCN for alittle extra awareness and support.

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.
