Hi guys, anyone know how to identify a Jamma PCB/ROM revision?

I am looking at a Mortal Kombat 2 pcb and have queried with the owner what the rom revision is.

He's not sure where to look and I haven't a clue.

    Can anyone help?

Just took a look for ya,
Below shows where revision ROMS for MK2 2 are:

And here shows Revision Numbers available:
    http://www.mortalkombatonline.com/content/forum/showmessage.cds?id=547

    MK2:
L1.4 (There may have been a prototype version before this, but it's not well known if it exists)
    L2.1 (Baby basher version)
L3.1 (This is the last U.S. revision)
L3.2 (This is the European version)
    L4.2 (hack)
    L9.1 (hack)
Challenger (hack that lets you fight Smoke, Jade, Tsung, and Kintaro in the normal battle plan before the ?)

The information your looking for will be in the Test & Service .

It will clearly say what version it is

Thanks guys. I have a fella offering an mk2 PCB. Apparently it says challenger on the board which means its a hack. I have asked him to check test and service menu to confirm.

I probably am not interested in this hack version. Am I correct in saying the only way to remove the hack would be to replace the hack toms with original revision ones?

if I have 2 spare roms I can burn the correct ones for you, or if you can get me 2 chips.

Which EPROM Programmer do you use if you don't mind me asking?

Thanks purplec. So I could buy this PCB and then replace with your burned chips? Cool.

Where do I get such chips?

Defo interested to do this chip swap as the PCB itself is in good condition with manual and kick harness included.

If we had someone here who could write unencrypted ROMs to CPS2 boards that would be absolutely amazing.

We do don't we? Anyone with that willem gq-4x can do it, and I'll have one in a couple of weeks(or a better version if it's not that much extra).

I think I'll get this kit
    http://www.mcumall.com/comersus/store/comersus_viewItem.asp?idProduct=4312

Comes with the GQ-4X as well as a few adapters and stuff. I really need to phoenix my CPS2 games as I got a good few a while ago from Japan and none of them were done.
€95 for the whole lot which seems decent.

I have a couple of different burners but the most frequently used is the vp-280. It's actually very good.

Spend the cash on a good eraser though especially if your going to do your CPS2 carts. The hitachi chips are a bitch to erase small window big chip.

The Phoenix roms are out in circulation

@ techno i think I have the chips, drop me a pm and tell me what version you want.
