    Hi All,

I'm doing the Ring of Kerry Cycle in July.

Just wondering what you all do food wise before the cycle and what you bring with you on the bike i know there are food stops etc but trying to get an idea of what might be good to have with me.:D

Day before even a couple of days load up on the rice/pasta/spuds. On the day it's self, bring a banana or 3, a snickers or along those lines. Food stops aren't great, best you can hope for are a bit of brac an a cup of tea. At the time though, it's a god send!

As previously mentioned load up on carbs on the few days before hand, a decent breakfast and for me on the big day ,2 bottles, energy drink and water, also in terms of grub energy bars, banana, jelly babies (easy to digest and full of sugar). Always have a few euro's in your pocket for a few unscheduled stops.
The stops themselves are good enough, lots of bananas, current bread, water, small cakes and very long queues, lol.

Don't bring any food with you.
There is a chocolate stop in Glenbeigh.
There is an official food stop in Caherciveen (Sambos, bananas, cake, scones etc).
    Chocolate stop in Waterville.
Chocolate stop at top of Coomakiste.
Chocolate stop at the Black Shop.
Lady outside Sneem in cottage before the drag has a water stop.
Two stops in Sneem, 1 in the main square and 1 at Sneem Hotel.
Official food stop in Kenmare, sambos, cake etc.

You can put on a serious amount of weight doing the Ring.

Mother of God man, did you go the wrong way? Or accidentally just call in to some random farmhouses? There is an embarrassment, an obscenity of food thrown at you on the ROK. Sandwiches, brown, white, ham, cheese, egg, tuna, salad, with butter, without butter, scones, cakes, buns, apple pie, bars, bananas, biscuits, pasta...

Bring feckin Rennie or Gaviscon with you if anything ! :)

For breakfast I usually grab a sausage an egg sandwich from a newsagents on the way to the start from my lodgings and try to eat it without spilling red sauce down my jersey. I also grab a couple of nutrigrains but only as back up in case there is nothing worth eating at the stops.

The foodstops in Cahirciveen and Kenmare are legendary! They could literally feed an army - come to think of it, they are... :D

Well there are bikes on the road from sunrise, so anyone starting from mid morning on might find some slim pickings.
