Rent Review-Reduced Rates

    Hi,

Just wondering does anyone know what the story is when you've been getting rent allowance for six months under the maximum rate of 250 euro and now the social welfare have asked to fill out review forms but the new maximum rate is 230euro per month. Will my friend be forced to renegotiate the rate with their landlord or do they still qualify for 250 a month?

    All advice gratefully appreciated,

    Best wishes,

    BB

yes they are asked to negotiate the rent downwards with the landlord however if they are in a fixed term lease then if the landlord says no there is nothing that the welfare can do about it and it would have to stay as is until the lease is up, however it is possible they then decide to stop the rent allowance altogether, this is by no means a definite but it does imply this at the end of the letter they send you for your rent review
