    Hi Guys,

Looking for a bit of advice.
I was given an autographed concert program from a Queen concert during the 80's, from friends who were working at the Venue and I'm interested in getting it Valued. I was also given a set of Roger Taylors drum sticks with his name embossed on them. I'm not interested in selling, but I see on a lot of sites, they mention a cert of authenticity and perhaps this might come in handy if I ever decide to part with them .

Does anyone know where to go with stuff like this ? Preferably in Ireland, or whats involved in getting something like this authenticated ?

There are companies in the states who print off & sell certificates of authenticity. I'd recommend a read of this article:
Over the past several years, I have closely followed reports on FBI autograph raids, private lawsuits from collector vs. dealer and several isolated incidents pertaining to autograph forgeries. I found that an astonishing 98% of all dealers either accused , prosecuted, or convicted for selling fraudulent autographed memorabilia provided a 'Certificates of Authenticity' with the bogus merchandise. As far as I am concerned, this article should stop right here as this paragraph just delivered an accurate and powerful message to you. Nevertheless, I'll go on.

Provenance is better. lets say if you had a 'receipt of purchase' from a reputable dealer or a valuation document from a respected authority in that field.

Most often a 'Certificate of Authenticity' is just a marketing gimmick.

Sometimes it can even be hazardous to your item to have one of these certs.
Personally, if I hear the item has a 'Cert of Authenticity' then I am immediately suspicious.

Thanks for your reply, Problem is, I've had these for over 25 years, But I have nothing to prove they are Authentic. I lost touch with the person who gave this to me long ago.
I know that they are genuine items, but how do I prove that ?

Is there a reputable dealer or a respected authority in Ireland, or where would I have to go ?

There are autograph and memorobilia experts and collectors who can probably tell the real thing from a mass-produced fake.
