    Hi,

I am wondering if I can send a Freesat and a Saorview down one cable. If so what do I need.

    Regards

Oops....you get today prize for wrong answer........

Yes OP it is easy all you need are diplexers or Sat/terrestrial combiners . one up top of the single cable and one at the bottom end to split it back out to two separate signals... not too expensive look online or tony or others online here have them

Note you need two items. One at the top to combine, and another at the bottom to seperate. You can get nice wall outlets with diplexer built in, but be warned some wall outlets have two connections, but no diplexer built in.

Does it follow that this would work with two Sky cables down one cable, to emerge into two again, allowing for Sky + ?

    No...

    No...

You can get a satellite stacker/destacker here http://www.tvtrade.ie/amplifiers-and-diplexers/destackers.html

With the stacker/destacker system the cable has to be the highest quality, in excellent condition, because it's carrying frequencies as high as 3.4GHz.

just to add, if possible no joints in the cabling either, Stacker/Destackers work but i use them as extreme last resort i.e. georgian/victorian houses with only 1 cable and no possible way of getting a 2nd to tv point...

The question was about COMBINERS ! No stacker/destacker .

True, but Mumha was asking what would work for two Sky cables, and I assumed from his question that he did not know about stacker/destackers.

    But your answer was correct!

Right ... heres one for you.

I have 2 cables currently feeding a Sky+ box. I would like to use them in the following way:

Cable 1 - Sat feed 1 + Saorview feed (Believe this is OK)
Cable 2 - Sat Feed 2 + (the tricky bit) - UHF out

Cable 2 is effectively Sat IN / UHF Out ... want to use this to distribute onwards through the house.

Is this possible in any way?

I don't understand what you are asking. You can easily combine a Satellite signal and a Saorview signal on one cable.

The saorview is UHF already. If you mean feeding the Saorview and a UHF modulated channel back up the second cable, then yes this is possible.

It does not matter which direction the satellite or UHF signal travels. It should work. Make sure you have a diplexer at each end and not splitters.

A Triax DDU-112 Loft Box might give you more flexibility.

Thanks zg. One cable will carry Saorview and Statellite from the attic - i.e. both coming DOWN (which is fine); the second will carry the 2nd satellite feed DOWN, but an RF out back UP. You mention that it doesn't matter which direction the signals travel in, so I guess this is OK. Thanks for the help!
