Hey, does anyone know what the difference between a 3 year degree an a four year degree is? Are they of equivalent level or what?

    Thanks!

A three year degree is level 7 on the national framework of qualifications also known as an ordinary bachelor degree. A four year degree is level 8 Honours bachelor degree.

I might be wrong, but as far as I know, level 7s are always 3 years, but a 3 year degree could still be a level 8. Level 8s can be 3 or 4 years.

OP, the length of the degree doesn't matter, it's what level NFQ is attached to it that matters.

Similarly, a level 9 can be 1 or 2 years, but it's not the length that matters, it's the NFQ attached to it. Either way it's still a level 9.

Level 8 BA degrees (denominated or undenominated) are usually three years.

A level 8 degree can be a 3/4 year degree depending on what type of degree it is.

For example, a BA (Hons) Level 8 (Arts) is usually 3 years in most NUI colleges, while a BSc (Hons) Level 8 or BEng (Hons) Level 8 is usually 4 years.
