New TV and skybox not working

    Hi,

I am wondering if anyone could help me? I got a new TV today a Bush LED22982DVDFHDS as my old TV broke down. I am having problems getting the sky digibox working with it.

The skybox I have is a Panasonic TU-DSB40. It appears to be fine. When I hooked the digibox and the tv up it said on the new Bush TV no signal. The digibox is routed through a VHS player. I took the sky digibox connection out of the VHS player and plugged it into the back of the Bush TV directly that didn't work either. I took out the skycard and put it back into the digibox and it didn't work.

I have a normende Saorview box on an old tv and I hooked that up to the new tv and it works perfect but I would like to have sky back working.

    Thanks for your help,
    Buttercup20

If the Sky box is connected via a VHS then you would need to do a scan on the TV for analogue channels. Check the user manual and do a factory reset and se the country to Ireland or similar.

It won't just appear, you need to scan for channels. Also make sure the Sky box is on with the light on the front, before scanning for channels. You should find one channel, which is the channel generated by the Sky box.

Let us know how you get on, and we will try help.

Depends on if it's looped through via RF or scart.

You cant scan for channels if its a Sky Box and connected by a scart lead or a hdmi, you can only scan if the signal is a cable feed.

If there is a source button on the new TV remote control turn on the Sky box and press in a channel like RTE 1 which should be 101 on Sky and press the source button on the new TV remote control until you see a picture.

I am presuming u are getting no signal as u are switched over to the digital tuner in the tv, switch it into analog mode and connect the skybox via a scart cable to the tv.

If the Sky box is looped through the video & on to the tv via one of its RF-outs (is that what you mean by "cable feed"?), then you would scan the tv's analogue channels to find the one the box is outputting on.

It would be a strange way to have it connected unless the tv is very short of scart inputs & other equipment is in use.

    Hi Buttercup.

Is there any chance you could post up how it was resolved?

It may be of some use to someone else in the future.

No problem at all. It was actually a combination of trying everyone's advice in the above posts that worked. Hope this helps.
