So I believe one has to get gifts for the lads. I'm learning every day!!
What would people recommend without breaking the bank?
I was thinking of a box of cigars or something like that. Lads would have no issue with getting a smoke. What would you say??

    Thanks

If they'd appreciate a box of cigars, then I think it's a great idea. Just make sure they are very good ones obviously!

I would steer clear from the likes of those tacky groomsmen gifts like hipflasks, cufflinks, etc. Regardless of people saying that their groomsmen loved them, they just get dumped in a box, complete waste of money.

Buy them something that they will definitely use, if they are into wine - a nice case of wine for example. Buy a voucher for their favourite shop or favourite restaurant. But steer clear of typical "bridal party" gifts coz they are just pointless!

I dunno, I think it depends on the people... my OH got cuff-links as best man and still uses them. If he got a hip-flask, admittedly he'd have no use for it, but I would defo have loved it :)
The cigars is a great idea I think. It's a special occasion and even if they don't smoke they may be ok with taking a few drags... Do check subtly beforehand though, just in case you end up offending any non-participants.
Quality drink if they're into that sort of thing may also be a good gift, as tinkerbell suggested.

    Cigars is a good one.
Personally i find the whole hip flask, lighter etc.. gifts a bit naff.
Vouchers would be a way to go.
If they like cars, a rally voucher,
food, a restaurant voucher and so forth.

I was at a wedding where the groomsman and best man both got vouchers for pints at their local pub. I think it was something like 15 pints.

I hate the idea of getting married in a rented suit, so plan on buying a nice suit for myself. Was thinking of also buying a suit for each of the groomsmen so we all match, and the suit would be their gift.

Anyone else ever done anything like this?

Heard of it being done before and tbh, it's a very generous gift I can't imagine anyone being disappointed by. I know my own brother is delighted to be in the wedding party as it means he won't have to buy a suit/shirt etc. :)

my OH recieved a beautiful leather wallet (and the "best man" cufflinks which are actually in the back of the cupboard) but the wallet gets used every day and he loves it.
i think the cigars and drinks are also good ideas if that suits the men in hand but if that was my OH, well, he neither drinks nor smokes.

all im sayin is, I think its a great idea but make sure its suitable for the person in hand.

why not something VERY different like a voucher for a flying lesson or something?

I'm not renting suits for my wedding, instead i'm buying the groomsmen their suit for the day, suits and their present taken care of together :)

I got my boys cufflinks! Each set of cufflinks were different and unique to the each of them. ie. a gambler got horses, an engineer got glass bubble levels, brother got basketballs (into basketball), another got eight balls (snooker player), a guitarist got guitars and the accountant got abacus. (that was my fave!)

I got wallets for free with the suits, so they were delighted with those also!

I gave them a handcrafted ornamented also that I made myself but it's abit harder to explain!

The cufflinks made for great conversation and photos, would highly reccomend that!

Whatever you do, don't get anything with the likes of "best man!" written all over it, whatever it ends up being! They're only going to really be able to wear/ use it for one or two days, ever.
