I am wearing one of these right now and need to know how long after returning this to my GP's surgery they will know the results. Is it read by connecting it to a computer and can the results be instantly seen? I need to know this as I have a GP appointment on the same day and wonder if they will be able to read and evaluate the result by the time of the appointment which is about 2hrs after the 24 hr monitoring is complete. Would ask surgery but they are closed now.
    Many thanks

Yes, the results are instantly downloaded on to the PC. Unless for some reason they won't give you your results straight away (like if they need specialist interpretation or something) though I would doubt it.

+1 the results are available almost instantaniously and if the proper software is used (requires a yearly licence fee).
    Good luck with the results

    Seriously ?
Thats ridiculous. That's like paying apple a yearly fee to use itunes after you've bought an ipad or something

Welcome to the world of specialist software. Annual license fees are very common in healthcare and science.

Well I have some specialised software myself but no annual fee.

But really I would have thought when you buy a piece of hardware as a 24hr monitor is that should include the software. I mean you own the hardware. What right do they have to extort you to continue using it.

Is it expensive by the way ?

I know if you want to buy one of those monitors upfront its a couple of thousand euro.

Pharma companies give them free to GPs though. Especially if said GP finds a diagnosis of hypertension and may or may not prescribe aforementioned company's drug as a result. It's a little seedy if you ask me.
