Where can I find a list of phones that don't have bloated UIs like Sense, Touchwiz, etc?

Looking for something similar to the HTC One S in size/performance but without the custom UI.

    Samsung Nexus S
    Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Thats it. Anything else would have to use a custom rom

Its just the Nexus phones tbh OP, all manufacturers put some customised UI on the phones, even the cheap Chinese guys. why not get the One S and put a custom rom on it, theres probably definitely one with vanilla android UI

    Nice one.

When a new release of android is available can you just install straight to the phone or do you have to wait for a new version of the ROM to be built and go trough the whole install process again?

I find the waiting around for manufacturers to update their UIs before they make a release to be ridiculous. So custom ROMs wouldn't help much if one is left waiting for an updated ROM each time android is updated.

When new vanilla releases are made avalable by Google you have to wait for the community to actually build ROMs from this. Sometimes they work fast but other times theres a lot of issues depending how many changes are made in the new release.
In this case, people still have to wait for manufactuers to release their new kernel source due to the amount of propritary drivers used for things like the camera & microphone.
In short, custom roms can get you a new version faster but youre not guaranteed for it to be fully working for a while

ZTE don't add crapware to theirs, there are others too.

ZTE are starting to more and more plus they specialise on more budget handsets. Very few options if youre looking closer to the top range. And anyway, outside the Nexus range youre still going to be waiting on manufacturers.
