Luminox - Repair question.

I'm not sure if people really know the brand luminox but its apparently a military watch company and I've had one of their watches for years. Im exceedingly fond of it, its been through a lot with me (not to get overly emotional about it!) and therefore a recent-ish issue has become quite an annoyance.

A little while back the battery wasted and needed replacement so I took it to the first place I could think of to sort, which was Weirs. They were extremely helpful but did say that if they changed the battery it would be unsealed. As its a diving watch I really want to get it fixed as soon as possible, its gone from a semi indestructible watch to one that I'm afraid to let get wet. Unfortunately though I cant seem to find any way of sealing it again. The people authorised by the manufacturers to do it are all outside Ireland and predominantly in the states. I was wondering therefore if anyone on here knew of any other way to get this sorted, or even better again, if anyone on here has this king of watch and been through this issue themselves.

Cheers all, I'm a bit clueless so any advice appreciated.

Which Luminox model? I have one of the F-117 Nighthawk ones.

I'm slightly surprised that Weirs were not able to do a reseal, I thought they had a proper watchmaker on site? Anyway, all is not lost, you have a couple of options here. The easiest is to go to a Fast Fix place. There is one in Dundrum Town Centre, The Square Tallaght and the St Stephen's Green Centre. They will reseal and pressure test the watch for you. I have had a couple of watch batteries changed there (Dundrum branch), most recently my Luminox, and they seem fine. The pressure test cost €20 in addition to the replacement battery and everything, including the water resistance, is guaranteed for 6 months. You can also get a 5 year guarantee at an additional cost, if you want.

The other alternative I know of is to send the watch to Watch Repairs Ireland who quote €30 for a new battery and reseal. I have not used them before but they are highly recommended by a number of others on this forum who have.

Thats great to know! I was led to believe by the manufacturers (unsurprisingly really) that anyone but the authorised people is a bad idea but I'm glad to hear that theres nothing special to be done that an Irish based watch repairer cant sort.

Thanks for the reply Anjobe. Ill bring it to the fast fix people in Dundrum and see what they say.

Incidentally its the original 3000 series (The Navy SEALs one). I've had it everywhere with me, its a tough bugger!

I can vouch for Watch Repairs Ireland.
