can anyone recommend a good webcam.

i have one of those bush 1.3mp usb webcams but the image degrades the longer it is being used.

it starts off working perfect but over time the image gets grainy to the point i look like a cartoon.

Logitech do some good cameras with Karl Zeiss optics - just make sure you DON'T use the logitech software that comes with it!

If you're running windows 7 it'll recognise the device when you plug it in and it will automatically install basic webcam drivers. You don't need Logitech's bloatware crapsuite.

Also, re the issue with your webcam image, is this over Skype? If so, that's not a webcam issue but something to do with skype packet loss over extended sessions. It'll happen to the audio too if you keep your call running long enough.

I can't dig out the references now, but it's a documented issue.

Microsoft webcams are usually good, I have a Lifecam and it's excellent quality, I had a old logitech one and it was crap, keep that in mind Logitech to have "bargain cams", I think all of microsofts ones are decent quality, and the higher spec Logitechs good as well

I purchased a couple of logitech c270 and they are great. Inexpensive and they do hd and all that with great microphone too.
I think there was a referral or discount code over in the Bargain Alerts forum and I think I got 15 or 20 % of which made it a great deal at the time. So go have a look there if it's of interest

it seems to also happen in windows live messenger as well as skype.

If you don't mind spending that little bit extra, get one of these: Logitech C920

They're very good and i've had no problems with mine.
