Hi all, the gearbox in my wifes C3 has gone a bit funny in the last week.

    Getting hard to find reverse.

Jumping out of 5th gear at 80kmh, put it back in and the car just revs .

from today She is having to hold the gearstick in 4th

we have owned the car from new and its due 1st annual NCT soon.

we were thinking of replacing the car anyway if it needed too much work for nct

235,000 kms on the car now

Get the linkage between the gear lever and the gearbox checked for wear. If it's badly worn the gear lever may not be able to push the gears fully enough to engage them properly.
It might be something else but that's an easy check.

    5th gear gone completely now.

I can hear a metal vibration in 2nd gear if you hold the revs at 2,000.

The clutch pedal feels very light now, it seems to have 1 inch of travel where the gear is engaged
