Immersion tripping out ELCB.

As the summer is apon us, I switched off the central/hot water timer for the LPG gas boiler and set the immersion for hot water at 7am.

Woke up next morning to find all sockets dead so reset the ELCB trip switch, wouldn't reset. After much unplugging, found that the immersion was the culprit. The timer then feeds the "On/Off Sink/Bath" twin switch and either bath or sink will cause the ELCB to trip. The timer is now set to constant off. Have had a look at the wiring and see on obvious problems.

Anything I can do myself or is it time for a plumber and a new immersion coil?

    Cost of a new coil?

The element in the immersion is caput. It's a new immersion I'm afraid.
