Teaching Application Form

    Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could help me with a few things. On educationposts.ie there is a standard application form to use when applying to primary schools. On the application form it states that you should print 3 copies of the completed form and send to the school; it just sounds a bit excessive. Is this the case? Or would it be stipulated in the advert that they would want 3 copies?

Also, if the ad says return to the secretary or chairperson of the BOM should you ring the school and find out their names?

    Thanks in advance

Three copies would be for the members of the interview panel, I'd imagine. If it says the Chairperson, then I would just address it to the chairperson.Ringing the school for names might be seen as looking to influence the persons involved, perhaps?

It does seem like over the top but the 3 copies are for the 3 people who are interviewing you, it saves them time and money photocopying everything themselves for 10,20,30 people applying for the job.
Some VECs for secondary jobs I have applied for have asked for 5 copies. Annoying but do whatever they ask

I have only ever addressed to "the chairperson" BOM XXXXXXXX, that was the advice I was given anyway

What kind of information would you put in the "how would you contribute to the ethos of the school" box? The school I'm applying to doesn't have a website or anything, I can't find out much about it.

Did you find the job online? Educationposts.ie ads usually mention the trustees. You could then look on their website for ideas.

I found it on educationposts alright, but it's the barest advertisement I've ever seen :p it's basically a school name and an email address. I've put together a bit about creating a holistic, child-centred environment, integrating religion with other subjects, prayers during the day etc.
Do you think it would be a good idea to include a sentence or two along the lines of "Children of other religions could benefit from the ethos of the school by creating a caring, trusting classroom..." or something like that? Or is that veering away a bit from the Catholic ethos?

p.s. thanks for the quick reply

Tbh I'd include something about all-inclusiveness without specifically mentioning other religions. And mutual respect. They love mutual respect.

Sorry to be plaguing ye all again, it's this ethos part that keeps catching me out though. If you're applying for an ET school, should it be the same kind of stuff around holistic, child-centred education, or should I include more about inclusion, ethics etc.?

Really sorry to hijack this thread but I'm currently trying to apply for a few jobs and the section on the form 'Post(s) of Responisbility' has me totally confused.

Do I put in the most recent subbing I've done or can I put in other things like teaching English in a Language Centre.

Sorry again but would really appreciate the help...

A post of a responsibility is a paid post given to teachers in the school to carry out certain duties (E.g. health and safety, ICT). If you're a new teacher you won't have held such a post. They're not sanctioned any more anyway. I just deleted that box.
