Was off work today and I was itching to get out , I'm very new to the game so still learning but the taught of going around on my owndidn't seem a great idea even do there is a 7 hole practice course 10 mins from my house .

So I ended up just going around my local park with my PW to practice my chipping .

So my Question is lads would many lads on here play on there own ??? Or would you see many people play on there own in the courses you play ?? Cheers

I'd head on away out by myself some evenings to play six or seven holes no bother. Best time to try get stuff sorted out.

    +1.

Its quite normal to see guys playing on their own. I often head up during the week to for a few if I have some free time.

Its the kind of game that can be played alone and is still enjoyable.
Once you go up play a few times you will realize there are many who do it.

When I started playing, none of my mates did. Hence I was often stuck for someone to tee off with. I've made some good friends from meeting them on the first tee and playing a round together. You'll often get a two ball who will offer to let you join, and don't be afraid of asking yourself either. It's a good way to meet people to play golf with.

But I'd always play on my own if that was the only option.

im guessing you might be talking about the 7 holes at the back of grange castle? if so,yeah I've played around them on my own plenty of times. they're perfect for that kind of thing. plus gives you something a bit more focussed than just hitting wedges in a field.

its a good way of practicing, plus you can play at your own pace without the pressure of a playing partner

I think I'll head around tomorrow evening on my own because I really need the practice , I wouldn join in with anyone as I'm not great yet and would probley buckle under the pressure 😊😊

It might sound unsociable, but I love playing on my own, especially when I'm not being held up by fourballs in front of me. Very early in the morning is probably my favourite time to play

i always play on my own, no better time to practice.

great if you mess up a shot and just throw out another ball and have another pop at it. especially if the course is empty i like to practice pitching chipping putting and bunker shots around some of the greens.

I actually enjoy a few holes on my own... Nothing clears the head like a bit of solitude on the golf course...

I enjoy playing on my own but I do find I make more mistakes, particularly towards the end of my round, if I don't have a playing partner.

I always come in with a great score when nobody's watching me ;)

I remember hearing someone express astonishment at the number of people who played golf that couldn't count past five :D

I was out on my own this morning in Corballis, my first time there and I had a great time. I haven't been playing that long but most of the time I play on my own, other times I play with the missus.

I do this, but end up dropping 5 or 6 because of bad shots. I end up having to go all over the place looking for balls!!

Trying to limit myself to just dropping 1 or 2 now though...

Welcome to the baptisim of Corballis, like a religion you end up loving or hating it too much.

BTW, you could have used the missus for the blind shots on 2, 3, 7, 11, 12, 14.

Playing on your own suits me due to work. I've played all sorts of golf and to be honest playing with 4 balls can be too slow, too competitve and you end up with some lad who is doing your head in, your there this is my day off with the club thrower.

There is a bit of skill in playing on your own and not interfering with the flow of play - it is an art form.

I've played with some lads who HATE 1 balls, I've pulled some up on hitting balls at them when the 1 ball ahead is held up.

At the end of the day, the great shot you hit is a one ball, it is you, the flag, the flight, the silence and simultaneous sound of a great shot. It is a one player game at the end of the round.
