Booking seats on Aer Lingus

I have been trying to book a seat on a regional flight to Dublin and it seems I can only book one of two types of seat: with carry-on and without carry-on. There are 2 of us travelling and I can only book 1 type for both seats; there doesn't seem to be a way of choosing different types for each person.

Anyone else encounter the same issues? It's a regional flight (3000-4000) so the carry-on is only 7kg.

What do you mean book carry on? You don't have to pre-book carry on bags with Aer Lingus.

How true. Sorry, I meant hold luggage. With one bag (hold luggage) or without one bag.
