Thinking of driving Dublin to Turkey...

Hi...does anyone have any experience of doing a road trip across the continent?
I want tp travel from Dublin to southern Turkey.
Looking at the ferry charges it almost looks better sense to just hire a car in the UK and use that for the trip. The next half-problem I run into is that then I'll be driving a RHD car across Europe which isn't ideal. Also, was wondering on insurance coverage etc extending to Turkey.

Any input would be much appreciated.

Drove a camper van a few years ago across europe almost to Turkey.
Cork to Thessalonki in Northern Greece.
No problems.. ferried from Italy to Greece to avoid driving Albania & macedonia.
Insurance didn't cover leaving the EU.
if you have the time , lovely drive..

Thanks...yeh...I have the time...just trying to decide what car to drive. Was thinking then of hiring a car at Calais.

I'd be surprised if any car hire company in France or the UK would allow you to drive to Turkey.I have driven from Serbia to Dublin in a RHD car and it was no bother. It would be easier with a passenger though! Great experience.
