when i try to install the drivers for the motherboard i have all i can see is the windows 7 symbol.no icons no taskbar nothing else.if i revert to the standard vga drivers everything works fine.

    the motherboard is asrock z68 pro3 gen3.

when i install the asrock drivers

the screen res goes from 1024 x 768 (which works fine for me)

to i think its 1650 x 1200 which is when the problem starts.

    any ideas?

Make sure the screen refresh rate and max resolution are configured correctly, what video card are you using?

i dont have one.which ever one came with the motherboard.

in display adapters it says standard vga graphics adapter.

how do i check re the screen refresh rate and max res are the same?

by the way even when i try to update the standard one above, the same thing happens.

You'll need to find out what video card you have, and then download the latest drivers for it. Please right click on the standard vga adaptor>Properties>Details>Hardware IDs and post them here (copy and paste).

    PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0112&SUBSYS_01121849&REV_09
    PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0112&SUBSYS_01121849
    PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0112&CC_030000
    PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0112&CC_0300

is this the same as right clicking the standard driver and clicking update drivers?

is it possible the monitor doesnt support win 7 64 bit?

Download the latest Intel HD drivers for your machine here and install them, the monitor should work fine on your machine

if i remember correctly "SiSoftware Sandra Lite" will scan your PC and tell you what hardware you have amongst others, may even inform you what video card you have.

i did this already but seeing as you suggested it i did it again and the same result.windows symbol in the middle and nothing else.no icons no task bar nothing.

when i went to that page it gave me an option of installing 4 things i installed the first one.i presume thats the correct one?

This would be the one you use. I think I know what your issue is, when the drivers installed look for an option on the monitors osd (on screen menu) called "Auto Adjust"

installing that didnt work.when it restarts the screen res goes from 1024 x 768 to 1680 x 1050.................leaving the screen with just the windows symbol and nothing else again.
and auto adjust is there alright but its just the one option, just to do auto adjust, click it and the screen auto adjusts itself but doesnt solve the problem.no option to knock it off or change the setting of it etc.

i appreciate your help by the way.id re install windows now if it helped im that desparate.but again i dont think it would help.

Does it get stuck at the "Starting windows..." stage where the logo flashes about? Could you get a photo of where its stuck and add it here?

No it's not getting stuck.i install the drivers the pc restarts and I'm left with windows at such a big? Resolution that I can't see anything but the windows 7 logo at the centre of the screen and nothing else.

Try the auto adjust (you usually press one of the menu buttons to "confirm it"), can you right click the windows logo and choose personalize? Is the windows logo a desktop background?

Try booting into Safe Mode, does it work then? If so set a safe resolution such as 1024x768 then see if you can boot into Windows normal and change res to your monitors optomised one

    Try this:
    http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/sb/CS-022544.htm

if you cant open the intel graphics control panel try ths:

Restart the PC in VGA mode - restart the pc and keep tapping F8 to enter advanced options and select VGA mode.

When the computer boots up look for the intel graphics control panel either under the Control Panel or using the little blue square icon in the taskbar (by the clock)
