Ranelagh - pub recommendation

Hi all,

Can you please recommend a pub in Ranelagh for a mixed group of 30 somethings on a birthday night out? So a couple of lushful drinks after a meal out - no madness so ruling out McSorelys already.

Wouldn't of considered McSorleys mad? Anyway you could try Smyths or Russels or if your looking for some nice cocktails you could walk to Rathmines and go to Copan? Its usually quite relaxed down the front compared to the madness up the back

Mcsorley's is utterly horrible, mad ..possibly not, horrible - yes.

Smyths is probably your best bet. Ranelagh is better for eating than drinking imho. Will be busy at the weekend.

Birchalls, beside McSorleys. An old mans vibe but full of younger people. Best pint of Guinness in Ranelagh. No music playing, just the sound of everyone chatting.

Does anyone know what time Smyths is open until on Friday nights? Finding conflicting information on Google as to whether it's 12.30 or later on.
