Unlocking phone help please!

    hiya,
    i really hope someone can help me. I am trying to unlock my LG C300 I have my unlocking code from my service provider.
    They told me to:

    Insert a restricted sim (my new t-mobile sim)
    and just enter the unlocking code.

    However this doesnt work... when i turn my phone on it just says 'insert correct sim' it wont let me enter any numbers or select any options...

    please help thanks
