Asus laptop not shutting down

I'm having some problems with my Asus laptop. It will not shutdown using the Vista shutdown button. Only when I hold down the on/off button will it turn off.

I am not sure what is wrong with it, but I think it might be bios related. Below are screen shots of the Asus download page for bios and the other is the Sys Info page for my laptop.

It would seem that my bios version is 212 - however, the download site only seems to reference 204, 211 & 213. Why is this - have I done something wrong?

    Asus website:

    Laptop info:

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Does the machine get as far as "Shutting Down..." text showing?

Yip, goes all the way down to blank screen and then when I think it is about to power down it resets. I'm not sure if it has got its wires crossed on selection between reset and shutdown or whether when shutdown completes it switches into reboot (if that makes sense)!

    Have you tried these possibilities?

Tried option 1: - changing "PowerdownAfterShutdown". Did not work.

Option 2: Event Error codes. Running gave the following:

    Detailed:

However, I tried to refresh all drivers for the ACPI and they were indicated as being up to date.

There was the following response from http://www.eventid.net/display-eventid-6-source-ACPI-eventno-5351-phase-1.htm which I'm not sure what it is asking me to do:
From a support forum "Motherboards have IRQ Mappings for the PCI slots - on most only Slots #2 & #5 have what's called Independent IRQs, ( not shared with other slots or onboard devices). Most modern PCI Cards are capable of IRQ sharing. However, if your Motherboard is older it may not have a "Extensible" IRQ table of 23 IRQs but only 15. If that's the case, then the system may be out of IRQs to assign and that is why you are getting that error. If possible, I would try and move the card currently in Slot #6 to either slot 2 or 5 and see if that resolves the ACPI error."

Tried doing a clean boot and it failed after both safe mode and normal boot.

I seen a few replies seem to suggest updating the bios works. However, there are many reporting a number of solutions.

Perhaps some anti virus software working in the background?

I'll try disabling MSE and see what happens - that is all I have.

As a side note: I've just reflashed the bios and its made no difference.

Extremely pi$$ed off now sitting in fixing this rather than being outside!

I went back and redone the regedit update - it works for my admin profile (which is the profile I fixed it in). However, when I log into my Standard User profile the problem still exists.

    Any ideas as to why?

I've tried updating the power seetings to switch off the lappy when the lid is closed. However, this does not seem to be working.

Update: Worked twice in a row when going into admin a/c. Went into Standard User a/c and it failed. Then wrote this email from admin a/c and it failed to shutdown again. The registry update was not overwritten so I'm not sure why it failed after previously working. Seems like something in Std User has done something to the Admin a/c.

    :(
