Any fans of the show on here?

I'm a big basketball fan and decided to give this a go after seeing a clip of one of the earlier episodes a while back and even though the basketball faded away as the show progressed, I ended up finishing all 9 seasons in about 6 weeks :pac:

I thought seasons 1-4 (high school years) were really good, and then felt it started to get gradually worse as it went on (although I still enjoyed it).

Despite what I've said above about it getting gradually worse near the end my favourite storyline was probably Dan rescuing Nathan from the kidnappers in the final season. It was a good way for him to bow out despite everything that had gone on with him before.

Other storylines I enjoyed were getting to see Nathan play in the NBA after working so hard and becoming the father that Dan wasn't, Lucas finally getting married to Peyton, and earlier in the show Lucas and Nathan becoming brothers and friends.

Any reason why Lucas (apart from 1 episode) and Peyton weren't in the show after season 5 actually? I'm guessing it was because Chad Michael Murray ended up doing a lot more film and couldn't commit the time or did the writers just decide to take them out of it, because that would be very surprising to me?

Best characters for me were Lucas, Nathan and that little kid Chuck, he was hilarious, Skillz too and Chris Keller :pac:

I liked the cameos and locations they had too - Kid Cudi, Tony Gonzales, Atlanta Falcons stadium, Charlotte Bobcats stadium etc. Fairly impressive.

Who were your favourite characters and what were your favourite storylines etc?

2003-2012, that was a hell of a run for a TV show. Really enjoyed it :)

I loved One Tree Hill. My favourite storyline was Brooke finding out she could have kids. Her previous storylines with Lucas were great and Peyton was a strong character too. Hayley was the matriarch of the show after Karen left. There is definitely too many great storylines to really pick just one. I shed a tear at the last ever episode and it was a beautiful touch having Gavin DeGraw singing I Don't Wanna Be and the cast singing along too. It left at the right time though. It didn't become stale.

I watched it just this year from season one through, for me it varied between must watch and just watchable at some points.. similarly, it was the basketball side of things that got me into 2 it, and I literally couldnt stop watching until I got to see whether Nathan got to play in the NBA!! Theres a guy in my gym that is the spitting image of paytons stalker and so I dislike him for that reason alone! The gradual uncovering of Dan murdering keith was another one of the strongest points I thought....One episode that stands out in particular to me was when nathans agent and the missus are trapped in between living and dieing..quite powerful in my opinion! Paully D speaking of bball, just picked myself up an nba store swingman jersey with kevin garnett on the back, the east, 2008 all star game...chuffed to bits, its mint!!

I did a bit of reading around and apparently Chad Michael Murray was being filmed unawares and said that they weren't renewing his contract because they wanted to save money. I'd imagine he was asking for a fortune to come back and that was probably the main reason but I that's just a guess on my part. Hilarie Burton (Peyton) was reported to refuse to come back because they wouldn't give her ''creative control'' over the show, but without Lucas she would have been redundant anyway.

I also never knew that Chad and Sophia Bush (Brooke) got married in real life in 2005 and filed for divorce 5 months later, with Chad ending up with a cheerleader extra from the show before the divorce was even finalised. Bush was then with the actor that plays Nathan and then the actor that plays Julian. Ouch! That must have been a bit awkward on set to say the least :pac:

I'm not sure if you'll all have seen this (I didn't even know it existed until I was messing around on YouTube today) but it's a 30 minute feature with the creator and cast about the show. It was broadcast before the finale:

Shantel VanSanten living in hot pants was a particular highlight of the last few seasons for me

This is quite good too. The creator is pretty funny:

You can say that again Liz! Looking at what he's done since One Tree Hill and all I can find is a couple of made for TV movies, a documentary film about a trans-gender tennis player and ''The Haunting in Georgia''. I always thought he was a good actor though, surprised it hasn't really worked out for him.

Also, can any of you recommend shows that are similar to One Tree Hill? I'm looking for something new to watch now that I've finished this.

    Thanks :)

Revenge has been one of the best new shows of this season, it has just finished Season 1 and has been renewed for a 2nd season

    The OC - 4 seasons

Friday Night Lights - 5 seasons

    Dawson's Creek - 6 seasons

    Thanks very much!

I've watched Friday Night Lights before, great show. I was going to watch Dawson's Creek until I realised the person playing Dawson was the idiot of a director that was picked to do Lucas' film in One Tree Hill, couldn't take him seriously at all after that :pac:

I've started watching The O.C. About 5 episodes in now, I think I'll enjoy it! How does it get rated compared to One Tree Hill (I don't want to check myself as when I do I invariably find spoilers which ruin shows for me :pac:).
