when i am drunk i become an eating machine…. i could eat a days worth of food in one sitting..

the guilt i feel the next morning is unreal..

    does anyone else do this???

for e.g. i will have a chipper meal.. like chicken and chips or something… and then when i get home, i will eat more.. like, bread, biscuits, cereal… anything…

its like i am trying to gain some sense of pleasure through food, but it does not happen - no matter how much i eat..

its not about hunger - or its a mental hunger, if you know what i mean - or does anyone know what i mean?

it makes me feel so awful…

op, while i don't think ted1's post is particularly helpful, i will say that one of the reason's i don't go out much anymore is exactly what you've described. but i recognised that in my case i was emotionally eating. i wasn't eating cause i was hungry - or drunk. i was eating to stave off whatever emotions i was feeling at the time. something to think about maybe?

Do you restrict yourself at other times?

I have an over-eating problem and normally i have it under control but when i drink i can slip.

I have no real advice because i haven't figured it out myself but i just wanted to let you know you're not the only one.

Yeah, I do this alot, bag of chips on the way home, pop a pizza in the oven and while waiting for that to cook, eat about 6 or 8 slices of toast loaded with butter.
The way out if this habit is leave a bottle of water beside your bed before you go out so you have no reason to visit the kitchen when you come home.

Yeah, I eat soooo much when I have been drinking. Try start drinking water before you eat. Sometimes you can mistake the feeling of dehydration with the sensation of being hungry, it can even happen to me sober sometimes! Just guzzle loads of water and guaranteed you won't feel like eating as much as you do AND you won't be as hung over in the morning :)

If this is a serious problem for you, try to give up the drink for a while. Might do you some good to avoid getting drunk if you really cannot control your eating habits.

I am a monster for food when i m drunk just put it down to having a good night.
if the eating is a worry I d try to figure that out first.

If you are trying to lose weight or that then having something before you go out might help.
If not just site back relax and hoover those 2 double cheese burger, two large fries milk shake, the later 12 pepperoni pizza and garlic cheese chips and possibly toast when yiou get home ; )

Can only mirror what's been said before, have a bottle of water ready by your bed and just don't go in the kitchen when you get home. I don't overeat while drinking, but often smoke a bit of the other and have been keeping diet in check all year even through some bad cases of the munchies.

    it's only normal OP,

Majority of us do it :o

Drink plenty of water after a night out, or just avoid chipper, take aways on your way home. Drink plenty of water.

If it is something that concerns you, might I suggest that you cut back on what you are drinking then.

im a demon for it the next day after drink, not so much with drink on me.

i would normally watch what i eat, but with drink I think its in my head that my body needs nourishment after taking in all that alcohol

That's untrue, it may be common, but it is not normal. Most people do not do it.

OP, you are abusing your body with food. It sounds like you are using drunkenness as an excuse to over eat. A lot of over eaters "find" reasons to justify their behavior, stress, children, work, drink, pregnancy.

Look at your relationship with food with a professional if you really want to sort this problem out.

December 2012 I think you are way off the mark here. Op states herself that it's not mental hunger. How in anyway does it sound like op is using her drunkenness as an excuse to over eat ? Looking at her Behavior professional is really not needed.

And it is VERY common and majority of us do do it. If you research it you will find that:
the body doesn't think of Alcohol as food but as toxin that needs to be got rid of. Alcohol can cause havoc with our blood sugar levels. It sends a a sugar rush into the blood sending blood sugar level sky high, this causes toxins been removed from our bodies.
Toxins been removed from the body lowers your mood eventually and makes you more vulnerable to wanting to binge out.
Your body will crave high toxins foods such as salty, high fat carb foods.
Majority of people restore these toxins by eating high salt, fatty foods.

imo the Only way this can ever be resolved is just not to drink, which I really think is not necessary, unless OP feels it something she needs to do.
I am someone who takes health and fitness quite serious and I even allow myself a few drinks and a binge day once in a while. There is nothing incredibly wrong with having a major binge ONCE in a while. If it was every day then it would be an issue that would require "professional help"
