Text characters or a bit washy or thiny looking on one of the two monitors that I use not sure if screen shot will show this very well.

It's kind of like when a printer is getting low on ink and the text lacks that crispness/sharpness.

Its only noticable on smaller text like this and file names etc larger or bold text looks fine.

Monitor doesn't have a sharpness option which I thought my sort the problem not that it's a big prob:D

Is the refresh rate on the affected monitor set correctly?

It's set at 60 which is same as other monitor and their are options to go higher but are there any risks in setting it higher.

Not sure about risks, but my own monitor has a screen which tells you the recommended settings, i.e. when it was set to 75Hz it got washy but the recommended setting is 60Hz and that worked fine. Try and find the refresh rate spec for each monitor if you're not sure what they are.

each monitor has its own recommended refresh rate, mine is 75hz, which is noted in my manual.

as you can see from the screenshot though i have the option to choose rates that will not damage the monitor.

Also make sure to activate ClearType/adjust it to best settings for your display

oh WOW >>>>> I am impressed <<<<<< :D Just changing that from standard to clear type did the job.

The recommend refresh rate is 55-76 or thereabouts.

What a difference a day makes:)
