Jobs in France/Germany/Austria?

I feel really stuck at the moment! I'm 21 years old and have no qualifications but have a year 1/2 college behind me (French + German teaching). I had to leave that course due to an eating disorder getting in the way. This September I returned to college (transferred to general Arts, forked out €3000 for a semester) and ended up needing to be hospitalised again mid-semester for 9 weeks.

I'd like to go back to college in September but I really can't afford accomodation and to fork out fees again etc, and also I don't want to risk screwing up again (I love college but really cant seem to apply myself very well- maybe it's time I accept that I just cant do it and let go...).

Anyways, I've been on social welfare since mid-march (€100 a week) and have been trying to find a job since. i've left in CVs everywhere, check the fas website daily etc. and I'm really getting nowhere. Am not even eligible for the CE scheme.

Feel terrible about not doing anything with myself, so bored at home... so I'm thinking of moving abroad!

    - Would it be possible for me to find a job in France/Austria/Germany easily, given my lack of qualifications? I'd take anything!! Again, I've no professional qualifications and my only experience has been working in 2 shops and a restaurant. Have also helped out with homework clubs and have a bit of experience in teaching, but don't know if that would count as I have nothing to back that up.

    - If I booked a flight, went out with only €500 cash (well, a credit card with an €850 limit too) would this tie me over until I get something?

-Which would be the best place to go? (France/Germany/Austria)

Any advice welcome... I really want to do this but dont really know where to start, and dont know if it's feasable!!

Btw- I am looking in to au pair work at the moment too, but my ideal choice would be to work somewhere (cafe/pub/shop etc) and live in an appartment.

Sorry for rambliness... hope this is in the right place :o GET ME OUT OF IRELAND!!!!

Teaching English abroad might be an option for you. You'd have to go to counties where a degree is not a requirement (that rules out Korea, Japan, China... and probably the countries on your list!) but I am sure there are places like Vietnam or somewhere like that where you could find work easy enough.

Not really to be honest; let me put it this way to you, why pick you over a native? English is not exactly a uncommon language for people to learn and with out any qualification (big thing in those countries) you're very unlikely to find something.

I would have to agree. While the unemployment rate is lower than Ireland, there are plenty of unemployed locals after the those kind of jobs.

We have lots of unemployed Germans coming to seek work here in Switzerland right now.

A bit unrelated to your question but just as a side note, it might be possible to apply for extenuating circumstances with regard to your withdrawal from college, and that would mean you wouldn't have to pay extra again next year.

TEFL is something I'd love to do but I don't have €850 at the moment to do the CELT, and I don't want to do any other course that isn't approved by ACELS (be a waste of money!) so it'll have to wait!!.

Going to go with au-pairing until Christmas and then look in to the English Teaching. Thanks for the site though :D

Might do that the year after next! it's the accomodation and travel costs that would be a big thing for me too at the moment.

Anyways I'm going with the au pair work in Germany for now (free accomodation, food, language course, €60 pocket money a week) . Much better than being stuck at home on €100 dole a week.

If anyone is in the same boat as me (looking for jobs in France/Germany/Austria without much qualifications) I'd recommend the same... www.aupairworld.net is great!!

Am I right in thinking you have to pay EUR 39 every 60 days to apply for jobs?
