Zoned Stove heating question.

    Hi All

Currently near the end of a self build and have both stanley erinstove and oil condensing boiler.
I have 2 zones living and bedrooms, the sparks has wired a horstman 3 channel controller to the oil as 2 rad zones and a hot water through a stat on cylinder.
What I want to do is change the controller so that the zones only open the motorised valves and the channel thats used for water heating now brings on the oil boiler instead.
The intention is that the zones open and close without the oil on so that if the stove is lit it still provides zoned heat and as the boiler is timed to cut in if the stove is also firing then the boiler will cut out quicker.
I'm ok with having the hot water (twin coil cyl) all the time theres heat (stat on the stove hot supply and balancing valve on the oil side)
Is this feasible or am I missing something...

    Thanks
    R

Room stats control the zone valves, the channels on the clock send power to the stats (if it's wired right) if there calling for heat when activated then they open the zone valves and and the micro switch in the zone valve turn the boiler on.

    1. Do you want the oil boiler working off the hot water channel only?
    2. Does your stove do radiators too?
    1. This can be done by disconnecting the micro switch on the zone valves at the wiring centre. The effects of doing this is the oil boiler will only fire when hot water is called for. You will get a situation when the stove heats the water the oil boiler wont fire because of the stat detecting the required temp and your central heating will suffer unless you stoke the stove constantly.
    2. If not then I wouldn't do it because if the stove only does hot water then when the cylinder reaches temp there will be no heating.
The first option is doable but leave the wiring in such a way that it can be utilised again. You might also be charged extra now at this stage for any deviations.

    Thanks for the reply Johnnie
The stove heats the rads but imo is only capable of running one zone at a time
I'm ok with having continuous hot water be it stove fed or from oil
I was planning on removing the hot water setting on zone3 and using this channel to power only the oil boiler and allowing its built in stat to do the cut out when the temps are up.
My plan was to have the valves powered only and not using the microswitches so if the stove is lit then it heats the open zone ,and if the oil is brought in then it would cut out early because of the stove output.
I might be confusing the issue but what i really want to achieve is zone1 timed open, zone 2 timed open and zone 3 oil boiler on, with either 1 or 2 always timed open to accomodate the stove
