    Hi all,

Can anyone tell me who are the leading makers of electro-acoustic guitars these days? I want to spend about £1000.

I'd like one sounding great and easy to play? Is 1000 enough to spend or should I go more? I only use it for my own private playing (so far).

    Any suggestions welcome.

    Walrus

same advice ragardless of the instrument.

get out and around all the shops and play every instruemnt in your price bracket.

a £1000 guitar wont necessarally be twice as good as a £500 one.....

I one had a £4000 Lowden on loan for a couple of weeks and I preferred my £300 Turner. Now I LOVE Lowdens, and Gerorge is a brilliant builder and all round good bloke, but that guitar just wasn't for me........

don't worry if the guitar that grabs you by the soul doesn't have a pickup. they can be added later for very little (comparitively)

as to brands to look out for, Avalon, Taylor, Martin, Turner, Ibanez....

you probably wont get a McIlroy or a Lowden for under £1000, but you might just be VERY lucky.....

To be honest, I wouldn't really know what to look for. My current guitar cost me £70 (I have other better ones). It sounded good in the shop but not so much at home. That's why I was hoping to fine a market leader as such, one that is recognised as being top quality.

    I'll look into your suggestions.

Bought a lowden for 2600 with strap, pick up added, hard case.

A lot of money but it was the only one I tried that I liked, that jumped out as me as my guitar.
