Hi, I've just finished first arts heading into the second year in September, just wondered if any current or past Arts students would be able to tell me when do we have to pick our subjects/modules, specifically English and History? The reason I ask is i'm out of the country until the the 31st August so won't be able to go into college to pick them myself. I contacted various people in the University without much solid info received. Quite confused

I had that issue last year too. You can't actually pick/register them until you go back to college. A lot of the modules have to be registered with the department directly, some may have quotas that work on a first-come-first-serve basis. Everything is explain in the first few days back in September.

So it was the start of September you had to this not the end of August just to clarify? :)

Yes, for History there was an introductory talk in the first week explaining module choices and registration. I haven't done English, but I think it's done similar to History.

Yeh it is pretty much the same system for both subjects. I would recommend looking at the modules for second year if you get a chance during the summer. It really helps if you have a good idea of which modules you would like to take when you go back in September :)

If you have any questions about history feel free to pm me.

Just after finishing 2nd year english. It's all continuous assessment. Lots of reading involved but for the most part all texts are quite enjoyable.
