Just looking for nice racing tires for TT's - lots of discounts on tires on crc and wiggle and the like, rubino, schwalbe, pro 3, some seem to get rubbish reviews, what would you go for? Budget under 100 for the pair but prefer to spend lower :-)

have to say my ultremos served me very well. i only had one puncture in two years. currently riding on gatorskins which are also doing fine. but for weight advantage and racing the ultremos were spot on.

im using the ultremos aswell, happy with them. they seem to roll quicker, but im sure its all subjective. Was using conti gps before.

Since I tried them I swear by them, Veloflex Corsa 23 with latex tubes. The closest thing you can get to the tubular feeling.

not that exact one, but similar. think they might have been ultremo r1's? about 180 g each apparently.

I've been told by two different lbs that the open corsa evo cx is the nearest clincher you can get to tubular performance.
I think they run at a high psi and give great performance but wear out quite quickly.

Thinking of getting some for myself...............or maybe Conti GP4 Seasons - can anyone comment on GP4000s Vs GP4S ?

    GP 4000s are €27.50 each on bike24, there's €10 delivery charge I think.

When people say run out quickly, are we talking only racing or leaving them on while training during race season also? How many km is seen as reasonable for a race tire? I train on my race wheels as well so if that was you would you swap out race tires for each race or just train away on them as well?

GP 4000s have lasted me many thousand km at a time.

I have recently changed from GP4S to 4000s, I much prefer the 4000s. The 4S were very skittish in the wet, but a good tyre apart from that.

Riding Rubino Pro's at the mo. Rode the Evo's for a while.
Latex tubes pumped up to 130 - 140 psi and they are fantastic.
    1 word of warning:
They are a fairly bulletproof tyre but they can split. I got less then 50 on a Rubino pro a few weeks back when I hit a sharp stone at speed and it split the sidewall.

    Well lads,

Do good tyres make a massive difference?

Its been said before and I will repeat it:
The best upgrade you can make is investing in good wheel and kit them out with good rubber. Makes a huge difference!!!!

Im my case upgrading my tyres and tubes reduced overall wheel weight by 280g, (140g each wheel) while also reducing rolling resistance. Not a massive difference but definitely a considerable one.

IMO, yes. I upgraded my Ultremo r1's to open corsa sc's and it's fantastic. I'm going to go for some Veloflex master too, for the euro rule compliance.
Personally I run slightly softer pressures based on my weight (a graph was posted before).

AFAIK the 23-571 is for a smaller 650 wheel, the 23-622 is for a standard 700 wheel.
