compatibility between parts?

OK so i have decided to go ahead and get the Ultegra bb 6700. Now im currently running my bike of 9sp Ultegra mechs and sora shifters. Its an specialized allez 08 model by the way. So i wanna upgrade my chainset to match the new BB. Im looking at this bad boy which seems good value

im pretty sure both are 10sp chainsets. will i be able to rig them up on my 9sp set up? wish i just bough a new bike haha

In general, they should work. However there is a chance that a 9 speed chain could rub off the outside chainring when on the inner from chainring and in an outside gear sprocket at the back. If that is the case you can place spacers to widen the gap between the 2 chainrings of about a mm max. You may not need to do this though.

The ultegra is lighter but both are fairly similar. What's wrong with your current one though? Would you not save up over time for a new bike though?

Yeah I agree but I wanna lighten the bike up in the mean time and the teeth are beginning to wear on my sora. I'd like to just purchase a frame in the near future as I've changed everything bar the frame forks and crankset on the bike.
