    In general, they should work. However there is a chance that a 9 speed chain could rub off the outside chainring when on the inner from chainring and in an outside gear sprocket at the back. If that is the case you can place spacers to widen the gap between the 2 chainrings of about a mm max. You may not need to do this though.

    The ultegra is lighter but both are fairly similar. What's wrong with your current one though? Would you not save up over time for a new bike though?

    Yeah I agree but I wanna lighten the bike up in the mean time and the teeth are beginning to wear on my sora. I'd like to just purchase a frame in the near future as I've changed everything bar the frame forks and crankset on the bike.
