    Hi all,

My sky dish(and brackets) are looking very rusty. Do sky replace them F.O.C. or do i have to pay them? Would like to get it sorted before switch over and Winter. I live beside the coast if that matters.

    Thanks.

nope they will charge €100 for a call out.

However if you ring them and say you want to cancel because the dish is falling off , they may just replace it for you .

    Thanks John.

Just the call out? no charge for equipment? Yep I was considering using the "cancellation Card";)

    Cheers.

if you cannot get Sky to replace for 'Free' i would suggest 'get an Independant in' and install a 'Rustproof' 80cm. Dish. The Rustproofing on Sky Dishes is very poor. there are various different materials used eg. Alluminium or Resin but even a good Quality Steel Dish would last much longer than a Sky Dish as the paint/coating is much better.

try the phone call first. wont cost you anything, (just the price of the call)
they will not charge you for a new dish.

    See http://www.satcure.co.uk/accs/seaside_dish.htm
I don't think they ship dishes to Ireland but it shows you what to look for and how to protect it.

Triax TD64 is cheap and will stand up against the harsh Irish west coat weather for 5-10 years with no rust, I have had one up for 7 years and only one screw has a little rust on it, you will also need a galvanised steel wall bracket to mount the Triax TD64.

    or an Aluminium wall bracket.

Id go for the new triax fibre glass dishes, just like the channel master they never rust and would last a lifetime, especially when your beside the sea.
