Sole Power to win the Temple Stakes. If you don't know why, read the blog.

High Standing at Chester. He's fallen to 102 and was fairly competitive off that mark last time when he met a wall of horses when trying to make a challenge. He looked as if he might have made ground on the leaders there with a clear run and a step up to 7f at Chester could peak his interest. Draw could be a problem but a chance is taken.

Noverre To Go has moved to the massively in form Ronald Harris and is miles below him best mark. With the yard in such good heart at the moment it's hard to ignore him at this level. I was a follower of the horse two years ago and he cost me a few quid when he started to lose form but I'll be keeping a close eye on him this season. VBlinkers on first time is interesting as well as an entry at Windsor on Monday and one for the Wokingham. They must be hopeful he'll rise again.

Whozthecat - thought about backing him and now caved to dutching the 4.05 at Haydock. This lad has been in my tracker since November last year. It looks like he's got everything he needs although 5 1/2 furlongs could be better and not bumping into a better than well handicapped or streak horse. Down to a winnable mark, trainer in great form, GF ground....can't ignore him.

First Post looked overpriced ain the 7.15 at Newbury. He's not far higher than his last winning mark, goes well at the track having won there over course and distance, Andrea Atzeni is 2 for 3 on the horse and won 2 from 9 on GF placing twice more. He looks solid enough and hopefully will be priced up close to his forecast odds of 20/1 tomorrow.

Totally agree with Sole Power, must take a lot of beating.

Hanagan on board too is a big help, I think he rides sprinters better than anyone.

    Granston 20/1

If Chilly Filly wins I'll be annoyed but her quirks have just put me off. Resultantly, I'm siding with James Bethall's truly excellent servent Granston who I think could run a very big race and upstage his field of juniors. Now 11 years old, Granston is one of the great advertisements to racing, especially considering his ability to operate on such a high level. Tomorrow Granston makes his seasonal reappearance and has an absolutely tremendous record doing so in the past few years. His last 4 seasonal reappearances read 1-2-2-2 and he was only beaten by more than 1.5L once, which was against subsequent Breeders Cup Turf winning Dangerous Midge so its clear he ran into a good thing that year! Last year Granston made his reappearance off a mark of 84 where he ran out an impressive winner by 1.5L at Beverley. He also demonstrated that this wasn't a flash in the pan as he continued to run good races including two narrow defeats off a mark of 88, both in Class 3 events. Tomorrow, he returns off a mark of 85 and I certainly think he looks well handicapped. Moreover, this will be his first return to a Class 4 event since his victory last year. He clearly goes well at the track and although he hasn't won he's been beaten 1.5L less on 3 of his 5 visits to the track. Graham Gibbons takes the ride tomorrow and he was on board for his successful reappearance last year. Trainer James Bethall is in very good form at present and this represents the trainer's only runner of the day. Although clearly the most exposed in the field, Granston has an outstanding record fresh and if continuing that trend I think he can run a very big race at 20/1 and I'll be absolutely chuffed if this 11 year old can spring a bit of a shock by landing this 20 runner event.

Forgot he was running. Better have a saver at 33s in the 2.05 York

I was torn between Trader Jack and Grandeur, I hadn't seen this thread so I went with Trader Jack :(

3.00 Haydock - My fav from last year Masamah makes it seasonal reappearance, I won so much money of it last year. First run and on it's highest mark doesn't look too appealing though.

Could have been better but I'd hardly say he was bad. fractions of seconds in it. Wind assisted the front runners

Didn't back it myself mind you!!! Was gonna lash on but I'm always a tad wary of backing horses first time out.

NAP wins at 9/2 and NB an unlucky 3rd at 25s. Not a bad day
