if you turn down a work placement interview

are there any repurcussions if you turn down an interview with the community employment scheme? I have been offered an interview for one that I applied to a few weeks ago, but in the mean time I have decided on the career path that I think i should pursue and do not believe this placement will benefit me in that. I am currently trying to get placement in my desired area and there is something promising on the horizon there. So basically can i call up the people that are offering me this other interview and say that I am no longer looking for somehting in this area without any backlash? i presume there is no obligation in these things I mean they are not paid and I believe I may have a path to a paid job in this other area.

Why not go to the interview and wait and see if you get offered a position, then decide what to do.

is that the jobbridge free labour job blocker scheme,if it is i would think twice before turning one down,it can look bad, because welfare could easily ask you in for an 'interview',and you cant turn that down..

I would agree, it will look bad, and if you dont get the other one, it will be worse. Go for the interview I'd say. You might not be offered the position, but if you REALLY dont want it, you could always throw the interview by saying that its not really your field but you just applied for something to do kind of thing... Be negative?...

But I think turning it down will be bad for you.
