I'm playing in the Uden Cup this weekend(matchplay fourball) but I was just wondering, could you play a singles competition in the morning on the same course before your tie?

You can play the course before a match, yes.

Just to explain the logic behind this - basically both you and your opponents have the same opportunity to practice on a course before a match (because you are both teeing off together) so there's no problem with practicing the course before matchplay.

For any kind of strokeplay situation, you may have an afternoon tee time but a fellow competitor may be off at 7:30am and obviously the opportunities for practicing on the course aren't equal so it's not allowed.
