After another long winter slogging it out with the hand scraper I'm trying to justify putting in automatic scrapers.

I'll need 2 scrapers in parrallel but they don't have a long run to cover really.
So far one guy has called from Dairypower to give a price, 5800+VAT incls fitting,

Has anyone any good or bad points about one make over the other?

Working full time off farm and my dad has enough to do besides pushing sh*te so probably needs to go in this summer.

    Thanks for any advice;).

only thing is you get what you pay for, first set we got where crap... steel was too light... we have dairypower and are happy with them.. also make sure service person lives nearby, always handy

    Thanks for the advice,

I've slidiing doors at the start of both passageways and the Dairypower guy was saying their ones are the only scrapers that can go within 6" of the doors, he said other scrapers would have to put a unit outside the door is this true? he said the others would have a min 20" gap to the door

We have 2 runs of dairypower in also about 12 years, good and strong, slight issues every now and then with the timers when on automatic but nothing major, probably all got some new type of timers at this stage which dont have these issues any longer. Definately hand to have service man close by though as whelan has said.

We also have an alfco one in since 1994 had our 1st problem last year just stopped workin(loose conection). kieran Kerrigan from alfco came out within the day and fixed it FOC:eek:. Total Gent We are only 10 mins from the alfco workshop so they are close enough.

In my time I installed loads of these Alfco scrapers. They're well made and reliable too, not many callouts on them. If I were in the market I wouldn't hesitate to put one in myself, highly recommended.

put in rope scrapers last year and worked great once they got them sorted.a little bit cheaper on longer runs plus about 1/5 of the running cost as they dont run for as long

I priced scraper systems last year at the ploughing. All the companies mentioned above came in at around the same price. I also priced NGS Agri and price wise they were more competitive than others.

That said I didn’t get the scrappers in the end, must look into it for the coming year. Any of you have experience with NGS?
