Struggling to find info on either of these. Want to know how much to join either or if they even take new members I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't.

As far as i know they are both still 20K to join but are almost by invite only. The Island may be a better option.

both are very difficult to get into ; family members get priority as do very good golfers (eg Scratch handicaps)

Portmarknock is a far better course but less convenient location if you live city centre

would there be many if any common memberss between these prestigious clubs

I have heard in the North that quite a lot of Portrush members are also RCD members etc

Isn't there some link up between clubs that have "Royal" in their name ? They can play each others courses for free or very cheaply or something...?

i meant common between Portmarnock and Royal Dublin .. Portmarnock is not a royal club....

interestingly Royal Curragh gave up royal status on independence - but this was never formally recognised and as such is considered a royal course for some reciprical agreements !
