ultegra 6700 with sora 9 speed chainset

    just wondering will an ultegra 6700 bottom bracket be compatible with my 9 speed sora chainset? will i notice much of a ride difference between bb's?

    I could be wrong but I don't think they are, I think you will have to have a minimum of Tiagra to have BBs that can be used between.

    To the best of my knowledge Sora is a square taper BB, Ultegra is not. I have mixed Ultegra with Tiagra successfully though.

    I think that depends on the generation of Sora, to be honest. AFAIK the latest generation of Sora comes with Hollowtech II BBs.

    Didn't realise it had changed, when did the OP get his chainset, more importantly why are you changing BBs? Is the old one damaged?

    if there both Hallow Tech 2 it will work.

    Well I'm currently upgrading my specialized allez to ultegra 9sp. I managed to get hold of some old parts. Now I'm planning on upgrading the the chain ring very shortly to ultegra cause I've been told I can rig a 10sp chain set on ot but I will wear faster.

    The sora system on it is from the bikes 08 specs. I presume it should work ok because they look like the same fitting.

    Do you guys reckon it will make the drive easier and smoother?

    SRAM 9 Speed chain is a good alternative
