Just saw a large buzzard soaring overhead here in a dublin suburb. The pigeons went crazy and flew off in a flash , I thought that the local sprawk that was missing for the last couple of months returned , but then saw it was a buzzard. I wonder what way do they capture their prey , obviously the aren't as quick as a sprawk to catch a pigeon?

They walk up to it! They are mainly insectiverous but are capable of dropping down on rodents and small rabbits. They also eat carrion

The last two mornings passing Dublin airport there has been one on the go around the two radar buildings on the north side of the airport.
