2006 VW Beetle - New Shape

hi, I need help with the following VW Beetle Part - I just can't get one anywhere.
I need a manual window regulator, drivers side, for a 2006 VW Beetle. The window winder (handle) broke away from the door, snapping the metal cog between the handle and the door unit.

The main dealer wants €350 for it & all scrap yards say they only have the electric regulator.

Will the VW Golf / Polo regulator work for me?? At the moment I have a small vice grips attached to whats left of the metal cog to wind the window up and down

    thanks

They do appear to be hard to find. The one listed above refers to using your old motor so it would appear to be for the electric version.
From what I can work out, the part number for the manual version for right hand side is 1C0 837 656B. The same part number with the 'C' at the end is for the electric version.
I dont see any in uk on Ebay. There are a few in USA for around 170 dollars but they wouldnt be worth the hassle most likely.
You could ask the dealer about repair kits for window regulators - see if there is one for your manual window version.

Best I can suggest is to send a message to everyone breaking new model beetle on Ebay and ask if they have the hand winder version of the regulator you require. There ay be a few out there if vw actually sold the manual winder in the uk.

Weren't most of the original new shape beetles fitted with windey windows? Would an 06 without leccie windows be any different?

The OP said that all available at breakers are electric so the winders must not be that common

What I mean is that maybe the op is looking at 06 models where maybe a 99 or so would do. Maybe it'd possible to bodge one together from a golf or polo if the broken component is shared - sounds like its just the spindle bit that's broken

Yes - its only the metal spindle (or cog) between the winder handle and door that has broken. everything else still works

I'm also wondering if I could borrow something from the Golf/Polo/Passat or the 00-06 beetle ?? to fix the problem in the 2006 beetle
